Water is an important nutrient <\/strong>in the animal feeding as it has direct effect on the biological cycles and it is decisive to maintain the proper physiological constants<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It is the conductor for nutrients and plays a very important role in regulating the body temperature. But then we must have in mind that it can also be a carrier of pathogenic microorganisms, so it is fundamental to have it under control in any farm.<\/p>\n

  • The farm needs to have a clear-water supply. The microorganism values must specifically be within the legal limits imposed by the Royal Decree 140\/2003<\/strong> from the 7th<\/sup> February, which established the health criteria for the quality of water intended for human consumption<\/li>\n
  • Watering equipment needs to be strategically placed in order to reduce up to its maximum the contamination risk.<\/li>\n
  • All the animals must have an easy and direct access to water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • The drinking troughs need to maintain hygiene and have to be regularly cleaned.<\/li>\n
    • Prevent the water from mixing with the animal defecation.<\/li>\n
    • In case of having water accumulation tanks, pay attention to their maintenance and clean them at least once a year. In addition, they need to be permanently covered.<\/li>\n
    • In case water does not come from the public water system, water analysis need to be periodically run and make sure the drinking water is not contaminated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
